2014 Preserve Monitoring a Success

In December 2014, two teams of volunteers explored the far reaches of the Preserve to manage this amazing resource by:

  • Assessing natural resource conditions
  • Looking for signs of encroachment or illicit uses
  • Naturalizing Big Tree’s base, where visitors have damaged vegetation and eroded soil
  • Installing temporary signs
  • Removing invasive species
  • Installing triggered wildlife cameras

The teams also beta-tested the tools we’ll use for the 2015 BioBlitz – stay tuned for more details on 2015 dates where the community is invited to assist.
